A Prayer for Peace
Dear Lord, as we look out at the world you have made, our hearts are heavy as we witness the continual breakdown of your peace and shalom.
We confess that our sin has added to it by what we have done and left undone.
We ask that You would renew our hearts and empower us to bring hope, healing, and light to a world steeped in darkness.
For those who are stricken with grief, we ask that You would bring comfort.
For those who are victims of injustice, we ask that You would bring vindication.
For those who are overrun with fear, we ask that You would be their strength.
For those who rejoice when evil persists, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to them.
For those who are risking their safety for others, we ask that You give them perseverance and protection.
For our nation that is divided, we ask that You would bring unity.
For those who are longing for things to be made new, we ask that You would come quickly.
Father, as we wait for You, help us to be wise. Fill us with your Spirit. Teach us to listen, both to You and to others. Enable us to be peacemakers. And help us bear witness to the love of Your Son, Jesus.
Amen.
